Where knowledge comes from

Provenance keeps appearing in places that initially look unrelated. A retrieved textbook passage, a Kichwa training example, and a page cited by an AI system all bring the same question back: where did this come from?

Knowing the source does not settle whether a claim is useful or true. It does make the next question possible. Who can validate it? What context is missing? What changed along the way?
